Hello and welcome to my little part of the web. My Name is Alan, Amateur Radio call sign M0TEC.
I have written this page to share information about myself and my Echolink Internet Gateway.
I am the holder of an NOV (Notice of variation) which allows me to run an Internet gateway. This facilitates communication between RF and the Internet and vice versa.
I decided to apply for the licence after visiting a friend of mine ( Keith, G7DNT) and seeing his IRLP gateway MB7IIP in use.
I wanted to run a gateway to service the Harlow area. As I have no working knowledge of Linux an Echolink gateway was the only way to go. I visited the RSGB DCC website, filled in the online application form and waited patiently. Finally on 12th February 2009 I was granted an NOV for attended mode link with the callsign M0TEC-L.
After a few weeks of running I decided to apply for unattended status and on the 8th of April 2009 received another NOV for the current link MB7IHA.
Link Frequency 145.2375 Mhz. Node #453387
CTCSS Code 110.9 Hz
Link output power 5w
Current hardware configuration of MB7IHA is as follows:-
Small Form Factor HP Computer 2.8ghz 500mb of ram running Echolink and Echo Producer s/w
Echolink MKIII Data Interface by G3VFP
Watson W20-AM Power Supply
Yaesu FT-1500M 2m Amateur Radio Transceiver
MB7IHA COMMANDS (DTMF Codes)
123 for the time, 111 for weather conditions, 00 Connect to random node, 01 Connect to random link
02 Connect to random conference, # Play Info, 08 Link connection status, 73 Disconnect, ## Disconnect all
See below for a sample of audio from my gateway. (All conversations are recorded for reference purposes)
Please note that I was using my Iphone hands free without a microphone attached approx 3 feet from my mouth!
